Shentang Bay
Shentang Gulf or Shentang Bay, also known as 神堂湾 (Shén táng wān) in Chinese, is lsituated in southeast of Tianzi Mountain,Wulingyuan Scenic Area,
Zhangjiajie City.
Remaining untouched by human footprints, Shentang Gulf is just like a mythical and green labyrinth. Here, a bottomless gorge with bluffs is bathed in misty all the year around.
Legend goes that the King Xiang jumped off the cliffs and died there after he failed in the final battle and ran away from the Baizhang Gorge to Tianzi Mountain.
There is only one way leading to the heart of Shentang Gulf - a threatening 9-step natural ladder, which allows only one foot to stand on. In the heart of the basin is a dark pool. You will be horrified by every single glimpse of the bottom. What’s particularly surprising is, sounds of beating drums and gongs, human voice and horses neigh can be heard from the canyon.
It is very beautiful while you stand on the observation deck of Shentang Bay to seeing so many unique stone peaks in the valley. And it is regarded as one the best place for photographers to shoot sun-rising in Tianzi Mountain.
If you want to go there, you need to walk about 30 minutes to the observation deck after you get off at the shuttle bus station of Shentang Bay (Shén táng wān). Nearby the Shentang Bay, And it will take you over 1 hour's visiting there.
