Terminals of Yangtze River Cruise


Yangtze River Cruise is a terrific inland cruise trip in China, which is one of the highlights for a China tour. Most people will choose to take a Yangtze River Cruise when they are traveling for their 1st time to China. Some of them choose to book a whole tour package, and some of them choose to only buy the cruise tickets. Top China Travel are going to introduce the Yangtze River Cruise Terminals to those tourists who book tickets only.According to the route the Yangtze River Cruise like Chongqing-Yichang ( or Yichang-Chongqing) and Shanghai-Chongqing (Chongqing-Shanghai), we will introduce three main terminals. 
Shanghai Wusong Wharf
Located at No. 271 Chenghua Road, Baoshan District, Shanghai, it is Shanghai Port Wusong Passenger Center. This cruise terminal is only for those Yangtze River Cruise Boats going Shanghai-Chongqing Route. 
Tourists can take Metro Line No 3 from Shanghai South Railway Station and get off at Baoyang Road, from which you could get to the wharf conveniently.  Another way is to take a taxi or book a transfer service with a travel agency. 
Yichang Cruise Terminal
There are mainly 2 wharves in Yichang for deluxe Yangtze River Cruise Boats to be anchored. They are Taohuacun Wharf (桃花村码头) and New Century Wharf(新世纪码头). Both wharves are not far from each with a distance of about 3km.  If it is in flood season or the waterway is controlled, the cruise boats will be arranged to dock at Maoping Wharf. 
 
New Century Wharf is about 500 meters from Three Visitors Cave and 38 km away from Yichang Airport. It is about 23 km to Yichang East Railway Station. All the Yangtze River cruise boats are anchored at this wharf, except the cruise boats by Changjiang Cruise Overseas Travel Company. 
 
Taohuacun Wharf is located at 7.6 km northward from Ye Ming Zhu Road and about 35.7 km away from Yichang Airport and 19 km from Yichang East Railway Station. It is used for the cruise boat managed by Changjiang Cruise Overseas Travel Company exclusively. 

How to get there?
1.Taxi
It takes about 60 minutes fromYichang Airport to the Cruise Terminal directly and costs about CNY 150-200 per taxi per way
2.Airport shuttle bus + taxi
Tourist could choose to take airport shuttle bus to Building Qingjiang (清江大厦)which is the last stop of the shuttle bus, where you could take taxi to the Yangtze River Cruise terminal. It takes about 1.5 hours, but less costly. 
3. Yichang East Railway Station to Yichang Cruise Terminal 
There isn’t direct bus from the East Railway Station, therefore, taxi is the most convenient way if you do not book any transfer with travel agency. It takes about 50 minutes and costs about CNY 70 per taxi per way.  

If your arrival or departure flight is from Wuhan, but not Yichang, we suggest you book a transfer with travel agency in advance to avoid any unnecessary trouble. 
Chongqing Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal
Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal is the gateway on the water for Chongqing. It is located at the junction between Jialing River and Yangtze River. It is one of the must-seeing spots in Chongqing with long history. It was firstly built in 314 B.C and extended in the beginning of Ming Dynasty, when Chaotianmen Gate is the biggest gate of Chongqing. 
 
All the Yangtze River Cruise Boats are anchored at Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal(朝天门码头), no matter they start from Chongqing or arrive in Chongqing. Sometimes, some cruise boats can not dock at Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal due to low water level in dry season, they need to dock at Fuling Wharf or Fengdu Wharf outside Chongqing. Then the cruise company will arrange coaches to transfer all the clients to those wharves together from Chongqing. 

How to get there from Chongqing Airport?
1.Taxi
It takes about 40 minutes from Chongqing airport to Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal by taxi if there isn’t any traffic jam. It needs about CNY 100-150 per taxi per way. 
2.Airport shuttle bus + taxi
Take airport shuttle bus and get of at Shangqingsi Temple (上清寺), then take taxi to Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal. It needs about 1 hour and 15 minute. The shuttle bus fare is around CNY20 per person and it takes around CNY15-20 per taxi. 
3.LRT+MTR
It takes about 1.5 hours in total. Take Line 3 Light Rail from airport to Liang Lu Kou (两路口)where chang Metro Line No 1 to terminal station, then walk for about 10 minutes to Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal. It costs within CNY10

How to get there from Chongqing North Railway Station?
1.LRT+MTR
Take Light Rail Line 3 to Liang Lu Kou (两路口), where you need to change to Metro Line No 1 to the terminal station and get out off from 4B exit. Then walking for about 10 minutes to reach Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal. It takes about 45 minutes.
2.Bus
Take Bus NO 105 and get off at Xinhua Road Cable Station (新华路索道站),then walk for about 500 meters, you will find Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal.It takes about half an hour. 
3.Taxi
Take a taxi to Chaotianmen Cruise Terminal directly. It needs about 20 minutes. 

Notice at Yangtze River Cruise Terminal
1.The domestic cruise terminal is not as good as that in Europe or America. The facilities might be limited. Therefore, tourists might need to walk down or climb many steps with your luggage. If your knee is not good or you can not walk too much, we suggest you book with travel agency and let them know in advance so that they could make some preparation for you. 
2.We suggest you rent a porter at the cruise terminal to help with your luggage. If you book a Yangtze River Cruise tour package with Visit Around China, the porter is included.
