Baizhang Gorge is also known as 百丈峡 or 百仗峡 bǎi zhàng xiá in Chinese. Baizhangxia Scenic Spot is located in the south of Suoxiyu Scenic Area.
According to legend, it is an ancient battlefield. The main attractions such as the horse pillar, the flag-studded peak, and the jade seals peak are all related to the ancient battlefields. Therefore, Baizhangxia is also known as the "Baizhang Gorge".
The Baizhang Gorge is located in the middle of the Qifeng Peak. In ancient times, there were many apes, and the cliffs were strange. The situation was dangerous and it was an ancient fortress. The canyon is deep and dangerous, and a stream flows. The original stone path on the right is the official path between Cili County and Yongding County during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Among them, Shaping field, Baizhang cliff and Bazhu Pool are the most beautiful.
Nowadays, Wulingshan Avenue passes though the Baizhang Gorge which is the must-road for tourists drive between Yongding District and Wulingyuan District in
Zhangjiajie City. While driving from downtown
Zhangjiajie to Baofeng Lake,Wulingyuan Scenic Area or Zhangjiajie Grand canyon, you must go through the
Baizhang Gorge and you can get a view on your bus.
