August Melon
The August Melon (八月瓜 bà yùe guâ), is also known as the August Fried Fruit ( 八月炸 bà yùe zhâ). It is a wild fruit grown in the forest of
Zhangjiajie area. It is rich in wild resources in the foothills and forest margins of Suoxi,
Yangjiajie and Tianzi Mountain.
The August Melon is the fruit grown on the plants of Mutong and Three-leave Mutong . It is named the August Melon because the fruit is cracking in Auguest of the lunar calendar. August melon is rich in sugar, vitamin C, 12 kinds of amino acids, and thiol acid, methionine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, lysine and so on which the human body cannot synthesize.
The shape of the August Melon is like a banana, so it is also called the “soil banana”. The August Melon is sweet and smell, and it is a non-polluting green food. Nowadays It has been listed as a key development project by relevant departments of
China.
