Lobster-like Flower,Chinese name: 龙虾花 ( lóng xiä huä) is widely growing in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. In spring and summer, visitors can see lots of lobster-like flowers on both sides of the path while trekking in the Golden Whip Stream. And the plants of Lobster-like flowers grows in the TEN-mile Gallery,Tianzi Mountain, and Tianmen Mountain.
Lobster-like Flowers (Impatiens spp.), a rare plant, has been grown for eons, It is named after its resemblance to the lobster. The flower has multiple colors (yellow, red, purple, white, etc.) and sizes (like shrimps, prawns, lobsters, etc.).
The lobster-like flower, widely distributed in Hunan-Guangxi mountains and Wulingyuan area of Hunan province, likes growing in a warm and moist environment at an altitude of 500-1,200 meters. Its flower season spans from summer to autumn. Lobster-like flower was once concentrated distribution in Wulingyuan area of Zhangjiajie City, but it is also dispersed in Huaihua, Chenzhou, Yongzhou cities of Hunan Province.
Lobster Flower Tea
Lobster Flower Tea is also local special of Wulingyuan Scenic Area. It is mixture of highland twigs of tea tree and lobster flower. The tea water is yellow, clear and sweet smelling. The tea water has sugary taste and is rich of amino acid. The appearance of the tea is like lobster and it is so named. The production period of the tea is during the raining season of spring. The tea has seven processing steps which demand special techniques.
