Alishan Mountain Scenic Area


Alishan, located 75 kilometers east of Chiayi City, Taiwan Province, has an altitude of 2,216 meters, and the east is close to Yushan Mountain, the highest peak in Taiwan. Due to the mild climate in the mountainous area, it is still refreshing and pleasant in midsummer. With the addition of verdant trees, it is the most ideal summer resort in Taiwan and a famous tourist attraction in Taiwan Province.

Belonged to the branches of the Yushan Mountain Range, Alishan Mountain Consists of eighteen mountains, which are surrounded by peaks, green mountains, towering giant trees. According to legend, Abari, a chief of the Tsou tribe, once came here alone to hunt. After returning full of loads, he often brought his tribe to come here. He named this place because of his gratitude. To understand the real Alishan cultural history, you should go deep into the Alishan Tsou cultural tribe. In the Alishan Tsou cultural park, you will get to know the heroic aboriginal people of the Tsou.

The sunrise, the sea of clouds, the sunset, the forest and the high mountain railway are collectively called the Five Wonders of Alishan. The Alishan Railway has a history of more than 70 years and is one of the only three high mountain railways in the world. Very different, taking a train is like being in a natural museum. Especially the three spirals and the zigzag climb of the first lane are even more unforgettable experiences; Zhushan is the best place to watch the sunrise. It takes about 40 minutes to reach through the forest.

Alishan Mountain has beautiful scenery all year round.Flowers bloom in spring, green mountains in summer, sunrises in autumn and winter (the best observation point is at Zhushan), and the sea of clouds. Riding on a retro train circling up the mountain road, a magnificent picture unfolds in front of you little by little. The train is gurgling with blue water and mountains stand on both sides. The tall and tall trees in the thousand-year-old cypress forest seem to be still telling ancient history.

When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom from March to March every year, countless tourists climb the mountain to enjoy the flowers, and the cherry blossoms in the valley are blooming, like a fairyland. No wonder there is a saying that "If you don't reach Alishan, you don't know the beauty of Taiwan." 

The Alishan mountain range stretches on top of each other, with high mountains on three sides. The Bazhang Stream flows from the south to the west. Under the natural environment, it creates a recreational spot surrounded by mountains and rivers.

Longyin Temple and The suspension bridge has also become an indicator that tourists will stop when passing through Alishan, and it has also become an important scenic and religious spot along the Alishan. The main worshipper in the temple is Master Li Xiuyuan, who is commonly known as the Zen Master Jigong, who is called Salvation for the Five Times It is the five-gong bodhisattva, and Zen Master Jigong’s attainment day is on the third day of the tenth lunar month, which is the Christmas day of the Zen Master.
