About 125 km away from
Aba Qiang & Tibetan Prefecture of Sichuan Province, Nianbaoyuze Scenic Area, located in Jiuzhi couty of Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Qinghai Province. Nianbaoyuze is considered as a holy mountain inhabited by human, deities and every natural sprit. Its main peak is at an elevation of 5,369 meters above sea level. Legend has it that it is also the ancient battle field of Gesar, the most renowned Tibetan hero and his stores still widely spread here.
Nianbaoyuze Scenic Area is a paradise of trekking. You can have a whole day trekking in Nianbaoyuze from
Xiannu Lake to Yaonu Lake and then back. The round trekking will take about 5 hours.
Xiannu Lake is wide from south to north and narrow from east to west. Its three sides are surrounded by mountains. There is a 100-meter narrow streamlet flowing to Yaonu Lake, which seem to be squeezed by Mt. Nianbaoyuze.
Trekking in Nianbaoyuze to explore the uncanny workmanship of the Nature is the climax. When trekking to the Xiannv Lake, choose a flat ground to set up tents by the lake. From night to the starry dawn, the heavy snow falls in and the pressing algidity makes a deep winter. While the red sun is rising gradually from the east, the whole mountain is filled with heavy fog. Soon the full earth is showered under the golden sunshine and the sky is a limpid blue, as if swept clean of everything. In the morning, the thick cloud spreads over the mountain densely and it begins to rain. At noon, the dispersed clouds, lifted fog, and the scorching sun bring us to the hot summer at its height. In the afternoon, the sun falls to the west and the plain restores its former serenity completely.
The best time to visit there is June-July when it is the flower season of Nianbaoyuze, with a comfortable climate.
