Longwu Monastery


Longwu Temple is located on the southwest side of downtown Tongren County in Huangnan Prefecture, Qinghai Province. Built in 1370 during the Yuan Dynasty(1368-1645), it is one of the most famous monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism in the Anduo Tibetan area (Qinghai Gansu area). This ancient Tibetan Buddhist monastery is the third largest Tibetan Buddhist temple after Taer Temple and Labrang Monastery.
 
Longwu Temple, like most Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, is composed of numerous temple complexes scattered around. The main hall in Longwu Temple is the Great Classical Hall of Wensi College, where monks debate their scriptures every afternoon. . Other buildings in the monastery mainly include the Temple of Heavenly Maiden, the Temple of the Pagoda, the Temple of Avalokitesvara, the Temple of Manjusri, and the Temple of Quwa, etc., you can visit them one by one. 
 
There are many Thangka works in the halls. Tongren County is a famous hometown of Regong art, soThangka here is particularly beautiful. Outside the hall, there are some splendid Buddha sculptures on the ground of the courtyard in the temple.
