Temple of Princess Wencheng


Princess Wencheng Temple,also called Dadan Rulai Buddha Hall, is located in Binagou, south of Jiegu Town, Yushu Prefecture, Qinghai Province.The Temple of Princess Wencheng is a historical and cultural relic left by the Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) on her way to Tibet in the year of 641. 
 
Dadan Rulai Buddha Hall has an area of ​​more than 80 square meters and a height of 13 meters. In the hall, there is the earliest large scale relief Buddha groups on the cliff.  According to legend, this Buddha image has the same blessing and virtue as the statue of Sakyamuni enshrined in the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. It has a history of more than 1,300 years.
 
Under the cliff to the right of the Buddha Hall, there is a clear spring  named Princess Spring. Legend has it that Princess Wencheng was grooming at the fountain during her stay here.
 
Bainagou is the place where Princess Wencheng stayed the longest on her way to marry Tubo. Here, the local Tibetan leaders and the masses held the first grand and warm welcome ceremony for the princess since she entered the Tibetan realm. Princess Wencheng was deeply moved by the hospitality and enthusiasm of the Tibetan people. In order to thank the local Tibetan people, Princess Wencheng decided to live here longer to spread the culture of the Han people in Central China to the Tibetan people.
