Qinzhouhuang Millet
Shanxi Qinzhouhuang Millet together with Mapo Jingu Millet of Jinxiang County in Shandong Province, Longshan Millet of Zhangqiu County, Peach Blossom Rice of Wei County in Hebei Province, they are known as China’s “four famous rices”. Therefore, it is often exhibited in
Beijing Agricultural Exhibition Center, and has won praises in Canton Fair and India International Exposition.
During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the
Qing Dynasty, Wu Tian, the Baohe Palace Bachelor and Minister of Penalty presented Tanshan “Brown Rice” to the Emperor Kangxi. The Emperor Kangxi was pleased and asked, “Where is it produced?” Wu replied, “
Qinzhou”. The Emperor Kangxi then granted the title of “Qinzhouhuang”, and pointed it as the tribute rice. From then on, “Qinzhouhuang” endured generations’ development and became world-known.
Qinzhouhuang millet is not only golden in shape, delicious in taste, but also rich in nutrition. After the identification of relevant departments, the content of fat, protein and soluble sugar contained in it is higher than ordinary millets.
