Mingyue Mountain Tourist Area is located 15 kilometers southwest of Yichun City in Jiangxi Province. With an area of 136 square kilometers, it belongs to the foothills of the northeast end of Wugong Mountain.

The Mingyue Mountain Tourist Area is mainly composed of more than a dozen mountain peaks more than a thousand meters above sea level, such as Taiping Mountain, Yujing Mountain, Laoshan, Yangshan, etc. The main peak of Taiping Mountain is 1736 meters above sea level, because the whole mountain is semicircular, just like a half-round moon,  Mingyue Mountain gained its name from its shape like a bright crescent moon

What to see?
Mingyue Mountain Tourist Area is also a national forest park comprising of six tourist zones. Among them, Yangshan Scenic Spot is an important birthplace of Buddhism in South China, and Wentang Town, at the foot of the Mingyue Mountain, is famous for hot springs teeming with selenium. 

Yangshan Temple was originally built in the Tang Dynasty(618-907). It was destroyed in 1304 and rebuilt in 1312. There were 28 buildings including temples, halls, buildings, pavilions, libraries and kitchens. It was rebuilt for the last time in 1832 and was renamed "Xingguo Ancient Temple".


Wuyuan Cliff is located in a canyon between Taiping Mountain and Mingyue Mountain. Here,the peak is soaring and steep, the cliff is more than 100 meters high, and the valley stretches over 1,000 meters. It is named for its rain that spreads clouds over the rocks. There is a waterfall on the west side of Wuyun Cliff , it is called Yungu Waterfall.

Qingyun Boardwalk is located on the top of Mingyue Mountain, about 1500 meters above sea level, and is suspended above the cliff. The total length is about 3100 meters. This is the essence of Mingyue Mountain Scenic Spot.

Yungu Waterfall has been one of the eight scenic spots in Yichun since ancient times. The waterfall originated from Taiping Mountain with a drop of 119.57 meters. Standing on the observation deck, everyone can see that the water of the waterfall descends from the sky like a white dragon and falls into the bottom of the pond to form numerous water splashes. When the sun comes out, there is a beautiful rainbow in the middle of the waterfall.

Moon Lake is located on the top of Mingyue Mountain, with an altitude of 1530 meters. There is a flat land, surrounded by mountains on all sides, and a pass only on the north. In view of its topography and geomorphology, in order to make better use of the limited water resources in the Mingyue Mountain tourist area, a dam has been built here  to form a landscape lake----Moon lake. On the bank of the lake, it is the Moon Lake Resort & Hotel which is the only hotel built inside the Mingyue Mountain Tourist Area.

Wentang Town is located in the southwest of Yuanzhou District, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. The town covers an area of about 171.6 square kilometers. It not only has the National Forest Park Mingyue Mountain, but also has a precious underground selenium-rich hot spring. The famous Wuyue Health Hot Spring & Spa is located in the town.
