Rrainbow Bridge
Rrainbow Bridge, also known as 虹桥(hóng qiáo) in Chinese, is a kind of the Wind-Rain Briddge which lies on Tuojiang River in the center of Fenghuang Ancient City. It has been also listed as one of the top nine attractions in Fenghuang Ancient Town.
The Rrainbow Bridge was first built in the early years of the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). After several repaired, the current bridge was rebuilt in 2000.
The Wind-Rain Bridge has a unique shape, which is not only majestic but also elegant. The wooden structure of the bridge deck is consistent with the length of the bridge deck.
The building of the Wind-Rain Bridge is divided into two floors. The first floor is mainly shops and grocery stores. Twelve wooden houses of different sizes are built on both sides, which are small department stores for sales of speciality products from local place and other palces in China . On the bridge, there is a 3.6-meter-wide pedestrian promenade with a roof.
The second floor is a folk culture building. It contains many calligraphy and painting works about the building of Wind-Rain Bridge. It is also a good place for sightseeing and drinking tea.
Standing on the bridge, you can see the entire ancient city, and enjoy the picturesque scenery on both banks of Tuojiang River. It is one of the best places to watch and photograph in Fenghuang Ancient Town.
