Guilin Painted Fans are beautiful and excellent quality, decorated with painted Guilin landscapes, flowers, birds, insects, and traditional Chinese girls. They range from small hand-held fans for everyday use to large ones, that make very good wall decorations. 

About 8 kilometers east of Yangshuo County, there is a picturesque small town, Fuli Ancient Town. The painting fans made by the farmers in the town are famous for their fine workmanship and exquisite packaging, so they enjoy the reputation of "the hometown of Chinese painting fans".

In Fuli Town, fans have become daily necessities and decorations, and painting fans are not only practical but also works of art. The large-scale production of painting fans in the town began in the early 1980s, and many farmers in the towns began to draw, process, and sell painting fans as their main occupations.
 

The majority of locals are involved in this ancient craft. They can be bought everywhere in Yangshuo and Guilin. Bill Clinton, former President of the United States, visited Fuli in 1998 and made it famous, calling their paper fans "natural air-conditioners".
