The two sides of the Kaizhouhu Bridge in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, were conjoined on Aug 17, 2021. The bridge is a part of the Weng'an-Kaiyang Expressway and is expected to open to traffic by the end of this year.
The bridge is 1,257 meters long and stretches over the Luowang River's canyon. The Weng'an-Kaiyang Expressway connects the Yinchuan-Baise Expressway in Weng'an county with the Lanzhou-Haikou Expressway in Kaiyang county.
The Weng'an-Kaiyang Expressway will shorten the driving distance between Kaiyang and Weng'an from 110.8 kilometers to 48.52 km, and the travel time will be shortened from 1 hour and 41 minutes to just 46 minutes.
The Weng'an-Kaiyang Expressway is also expected to boost the regional economy, support new-model industrialization and urbanization, and contribute to the construction of a world-class phosphorus and phosphorus chemical production base in central Guizhou.
