Zhongwei Drum Tower is a tourist attraction in Ningxia. Zhongwei Drum Tower is situated north of Binhe Street, in the center of Zhongwei City. Zhongwei Drum Tower,orginally named Wenchang Pavilion, was built in 1631 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1645). It was destroyed by earthquakes many times. The current building was rebuilt in 1831,and it is the symbol building of Zhongwei City.
Zhongwei Drum Tower has three floors and a height of 30 meters. It is a four-story arch-shaped pavilion building. The base of the Zhongwei Drum Tower is rectangular, with a length of 22.4 meters from north to south and a width of 16.65 meters from east to west. The center of the base is a "十" shaped doorway, which leads to the streets on all sides. The hole of gate is 3.75 meters high, the center is the top of the vault, and there is a Bagua algae well in the middle. There are wooden carved eight immortals around the entrance diagram, and stone carving dragon heads are embedded in the four corners, facing each other. There are plaques on the four gates of the pedestal, which reflect the geographical victory of Zhongwei City according to the orientation. It is a landmark building that embodies the wisdom of the ancient working people.
