In 1907(the 33rd year of the Guangxu Period of Qing Dynasty), this region is formally called Jilin Province. And in the early period of Republic of China, the regime of Qing Dynasty and the prefecture institution were deposed, and the provincial and prefectural governments take the local authority without change in administrative division. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the administrative division of Jilin has adapted several times. Then in 1954, Changchun became the capital of Jilin Province. Since 1979, the administrative region has remained ever since.
