The city of Yangzhou has a history of 2480 years; since ancient time a leading economic and cultural center and major port for foreign trade and external exchange on the lower reaches of the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers.

The city of Yangzhou has its own airport, Yangzhou Taizhou Airport, which is located at Dinggou Town, Jiangdu District , 30km away from the city center area. Currently, it seves flights daily to over 10 large cities in China, including
Beijing, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Shenyang, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Kunming, Sanya, Harbin and Chengdu. Visitors can also fly into Nanjing Lukou International Airport and then take the daily bus (about 1.5 hours) to get to this city. Traveling by train is an attractive option for visitors entering or leaving the city.
