Suiyuan General Government Office Museum
Suiyuan General Government Office Museum was established in Hohhot, in Inner
Mongolia autonomous region, in 1992. It is a multifunctional museum for the display of relics as well as for the promotion of regional culture.
Suiyuan General Government Office was originally an administrative office for the army generals in the then garrison town of Suiyuan (now Hohhot) during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It has a history stretching back more than 280 years. The office has been renovated several times since its establishment. In 2017, it opened to the public after five years of renovation and reconstruction. It is now covers an area of 26,400 square meters and features improved service infrastructures.
It is the biggest and most complete existing administrative offices for generals during Qing Dynasty in the country. Its Qing Dynasty architectural style is regarded to be of great significance to the study and research of local history.
In 2009, the museum was named as a national secondary level museum by the national Cultural Heritage Administration and was included in the list of AAA tourist sites in 2013.
