Zhongshan Travel Guide
Zhongshan City is a precture-level city which is located on the western side of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong Province. It is the important waterway that connects Guangzhou with Hong Kong and Macau, And it is proving to be an attractive city for investors from both home and abroad. History of Zhongshan
Zhongshan, originally called Xiangshan in ancient Chinese, was renamed in honor of Sun Yat-sen, who was born in nearby Cuiheng in 1866. Sun Yat-sen is regarded as the father of modern China as he devoted himself to the overthrow of the feudal Qing Dynasty and foundation of a new democratic republic in China.

Far from the large and noisy metropolis, Zhongshan City has its unique quiet but charming natural and cultural sceneries.When visiting the city, you are recommended to visit a series of historical attractions relating to Sun Yat-sen, including Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Memorial Hall, Sun Yat-sen Park, Tourism Area of Sun Yat-sen's Hometown and even the Sun Wen Xi Road.
Economic development has been accompanied by strong growth of the tourist industry which is becoming a highlight of the city. Besides its cultural heritage, Zhongshan also offers visitors charming natural surroundings, which include the graceful water townships south of the Pearl River and the splendid ten top views of the city.
When to visit Zhongshan?
Plenty of sunshine and rainfall in this landscape gives Zhongshan City a mild climate. Combined with its advantageous geographic position, it is an ideal place to live. However, the occasional hot summer and sometimes disastrous weather can be disappointing for visitors. So, coming here in spring (from March to the middle of May) and autumn (from the last ten days of September to the first ten days of December) are recommended.
How to get to Zhongshan?
Zhongshan is not a large city and its external communication depends heavily on its well developed system of highways, complemented by water transport. Three important freeways pass through the city, connecting it to several other metropolises and prosperous cities in China. In addition, the city's road network has been extended to a number of cities on the Pearl River Delta.
By Air
The closest airport to the city is the
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN). In September, 2006, the City opened a new airport lounge, providing travelers with easy access to airport shuttle busses.
By Train
Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Mass Rapid Transit (known as Guangzhu Intercity MRT) was completed and brought into service on December 31st 2012. It links Guangzhou South Railway Station in Guangzhou’s Panyu District with Zhuhai, via Shunde, Zhongshan, and Jiangmen. Because Zhonghshan does not have train service, most visitors and residents rely on the bus system for both everyday and travel transport. At present, the city has a developed highway net, including a series of buses stations. The City Main Bus Station connects to Hainan,
Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Hunan and Henan provinces. 15 bus routes connect to other parts of Guangdong Province as well. Buses to
Guangzhou depart once every 25 minutes; buses to Shenzhen depart once every 20 minutes. The ticket office is open from 06:00-21:00, and tickets are available four days before your departure date. This bus station is located at the crossing of Fuhua Road of the West District and the No.105 National Highway.
