Huaihua City, located in the southwest region of Hunan Province,is bordered by Guangxi Province in the south and Guizhou Province in the west. As Huaihua is strategically located, it has been an important gateway to the west part of China since ancient times. Now with its complete network of transportation, it has become a connecting area of these neighboring provinces. The construction of railway lines gave rise to the making of the booming city of Huaihua.There are two railway stations in Huaihua, namely, Huaihua Railway Station and South Railway Station. The former is located at Hezhou Road, Hecheng Distract and mainly serves Shanghai - Kunming Railway. The latter is located at the east of Hutian South Avenue in Hecheng District. Huaihua Railway Station serves as a transferring station of Hunan Province, where the Xiang -Qian Railway (from Zhuzhou to Guiyang), Jiao -Liu Railway (from Jiaozuo to Liuzhou) and Yu -Huai Railway (from Chongqing to Huaihua) meet, and it’s 453 kilometers (281 miles) from Liuzhou Railway Station, 447 kilometers (278 miles) from Zhuzhou Railway Station and 458 kilometers (285 miles) from Guiyang Railway Station.
Over 50 pairs of passenger trains leave and reach Huaihua Railway Station each day, which mainly start for Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, Chongqing, Ningbo, Yantai, Changsha, Zhangjiajie, Fuzhou and Zhengzhou.

In Oct. 1970, the construction of Hunan to Guizhou and Zhicheng to Liuzhou railway lines began. In 1972 and in 1978 the two railway lines were completed respectively. Railway lines have contributed a lot to Huaihua’s prosperity.Today,the long-distance trains that pass through Huaihua go to Beijing, Shanghai,Guangzhou,Guiyang,Kunming and Chongqing. Some short-distance trains reach to Changsha, Zhangjiajie, Zhuzhou and other cities in Hunan Province.
It was built to operate in 2014. At present, there are 20 regular Bullet Trains between Changsha an Huaihua,and it takes only 1.5 hours on the train. People can take direct bullet train from Guiyang, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Changsha, Wuhan, Nanchang, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing to Huaihua City...

On Nov.11, 2007, Shaoyang to Huaihua and Huaihua to Xinhuang express ways were open to traffic, which will surely add to Huaihua’s convenience of transportation. With highways No. 209, 319 and 320 built years ago, Huaihua now boasts a complete network of transportation. It is widely accepted that Huaihua is now a city with easy access to any part of China.
Because of the Xuefeng Mountain Tunnel, the trip time between Changsha and Huaihua has been shortened to four hours by bus. There is no expressway connecting Huaihua and Zhangjiajie right now. Most visitors make the trip by train. It takes about four hours. By bus, the 300 kilometers (186 miles) will take at least five hours.
There are three bus stations: the Central, South and West. Travelers can take the bus to Yuanling, Zhijiang and other places.
