White Emperor City,also known as" Baidi City", is in Fengjie County, 450 kms from downtown in the Qutang Gorge area of Three Gorges. The White Emperor (Baidi) City was first built in 25 A.D. and was named by Gongsun Shu in the Western Han Dynasty.

During the Three Kingdoms Period, Liu Bei, the king of Shu, died there and entrusted his son to Prime Minister Zhuge Liang (a famous advisor to China's Emperor).

Baidi city is also known as City of Poems. In ancient times, attracted by its fame, many scholars and poets visited and left numerous literary inscriptions.
