Changde Climate & Weather by season
In Changde, winter begins relatively dry but not sunny and becomes progressively damper and cloudier; spring brings frequent rain and the highest humidity levels of the year. Summer is comparatively sunny, while autumn is somewhat dry. Changde's biggest problem is floods, which occur once every two years and once every four years. The floods are more severe than droughts.
In Spring ( Mar-May): The cold air is frequent in spring. And the temperature rises erraticly, there are few rainy days in spring. It is the season for flowers viewing in spring. You can come to Taohuayuan Scenic Area to see the brilliant peach blossoms, go to Taifu Mountain to see the wild cherry blossoms, and go to the countryside of Changde to see the yellow rape flowers.
In Summer(Jun-Aug) :It is hot in summer. And it is prone to drought, heavy rain, thunderstorms and other severe weather. July is the hottest month with the highest temperature 38℃. In summer, you can go to Huping Mountain for summer holiday and raft in the stream of Huping Mountain.
In Autumn( Sep-Nov): The temperature changes very large in autumn , the drought is in earlier autumn, and the rain is later autumn. In autumn, you can climb to Xingde Mountain to enjoy the beautiful secnery of the 48-stockade Scenic Area, and you can also go see the red leaves sight-seeing at Jiashan National Forest Park in Shimen County.
In Winter( Dec-Feb): It is cold and sunny in earlier winter, but it rains and snows usually. Jan is the lowest month in Changde, with the lowest temperature -3 ℃. But in winter, you can come to Changde to see the beautiful snow viewing of Xingde Mountain in winter.
Best time to visit Changde
The weather in both spring and autumn is favorable. In the spring, it is the flowering season of peach blossom which can be seen all over the mountains. Every year in late March, Taohuayuan Scenic Area holds a peach flower festival, and the festival usually lasts one month.
2. Bird- Watching from March to September
Huayanxi National Forest Park is also known as a national outdoor camp for the youth.In the north of the park is Wuxi Lake and in the South is Longfeng Lake. From March to September every year, thousands of egrets come to this place, presenting a fascinating sight.
