China Nature Reserves Map


A nature reserve is an area approved by the government, in which biological varieties and natural remains are specially managed and protected. With the rapid population growth and worsening of the global environments, the establishment and development of nature reserves will play an increasing important role in protecting natural environments, natural resources and rare animals and plants, and conserving the ecosystem. Moreover, the typical ecological environments, rare animals and plants, the unique natural landscapes in nature reserves can offer ideal prerequisites for developing special tourist industry, such as ecological survey scientific research and exploration. etc. As tourist activities become varied and people gradually realize the need to protect the environment, nature reserves have great potentialities in developing high-grade tourist products.

Up to the end of 2000, 11 of the 143 national nature reserves in China, have been included in the "Man and Biosphere" of UN.
