Jiuxian Village


Jiuxian Village is located on the river bank of Yulong River in Yangshuo was originally named Xiangui Village. In 621 during the Tang Dynasty(618-907), the village was used to be a Guiyi County town separated from Yangshuo. In order to commemorate this history, later generations renamed the village to  Jiuxian ( old county). 

The vast majority of the population in Jiuxian Village is named Li, and there is a ancestral temple in the village. Unlike other ancestral halls, the wood carvings of Li's ancestral hall remain fairly complete, especially the two dragon heads in front of the gate, which are extremely clever.
 
In Jiuxian Village, there is a famous ancient bridge-Xiangui Bridge. Xiangui Bridge was built in 1123 ( in the Northern Song Dynasty)  and rebuilt in 1137 ( the Seven Years of Shaoxing) in the Southern Song Dynasty. It has a history of more than 800 years and is the oldest surviving stone arch bridge in Guangxi.

Head towards Jiuxian Village  from Yangshuo by bycycle. The road is not very wide. From time to time, there are cars pulling bamboo rafts to the upstream. It doesn't take a long time to ride to Jiuxian Village.
 
Jiuxian Village is a small village with many shrines, hotels, hostels. This is Li's Ancestral Hall,  there are several uncles at the door chatting.
