Chanding Monastery was built in 1295. It was the oldest Buddhist monastey in the Ando region and was created over 400 years than
the Labrang Monastery. Previously, the Chanding Monastery had always occupied a dominant position in the religion and culture of the Gannan
Tibetan region, and its historical influence and status was second only to the Labrang Monastery.
The Chanding Monastery is located on the platform on the north bank of the Zhuo River in Zhuoni County. It is backed by the Ami Rigong Mountain (commonly known as Dashan God), and it is next to see the Nanshan Guoyachuan Retreat crossing the river.
The building of the Chanding Monastery is a combination of
Tibetan and Chinese styles. The whole building is row upon row and magnificent. There are many treasures in the temple, especially the sculptures are diverse in style, some from India, most from
Tibet, and some are made by Buddhist monks. In terms of texture, there are pure silver, sheet metal, bronze, wood carving, Jade carving, clay sculpture, etc.
In 1928, the famous explorer Joseph Locke introduced it to the people of the world in the American magazine Geography.
